FAQs

What does your design service include?

South Hill Studio offers clear design guidance for homes at different stages — from focused consultations to more involved design support.

Some clients need help making sense of a room, choosing direction, or understanding what to do first. Others need a fuller design process where decisions are resolved carefully across a room or home.

The level of support depends on the scale of the project, the decisions involved, and how much help you want with bringing it together.

How much does an interior designer cost?

The cost depends on the level of support needed.

Consultations are fixed-fee services. Larger design projects are quoted individually, based on the scope, number of rooms, complexity, and level of involvement required.

Pricing is always agreed clearly before work begins.

What if I don’t know exactly what I need yet?

That is incredibly common. Many clients get in touch because they know something is not quite working, but they are unsure whether they need a consultation, a fuller design process, or help with specific decisions.

The first step is for me to simply understand the home, the stage you are at, and what you have been thinking about or where decisions are becoming difficult. From there, I can recommend the most appropriate way to work together.

Can you work with my existing furniture?

Yes. Existing furniture, personal objects, and inherited pieces are often where the direction of a home begins.

I do not believe a home needs to be started from scratch. The work is often about understanding what should stay, what needs to change, and how the old and new can sit together with more clarity.

How long does the design process take?

This depends on the size of the project and how many decisions are involved.

A focused consultation can usually be arranged quickly. A fuller room or home design process takes longer, particularly where sourcing, trades, custom items, or renovation decisions are involved.

The earlier design guidance begins, the easier it is to avoid rushed or disconnected decisions later.

Do you provide design only, or can you manage the project too?

Both options are possible.

Some clients want design direction and prefer to manage the next steps themselves. Others want more support with sourcing, coordination, and bringing the design through to completion.

This is discussed at the beginning so the right level of support is clear from the start.

If you are unsure where to begin, a consultation is the easiest first step.
