November: the Art of Layering

As the Irish landscape shifts toward those deep, dark winter purples and mossy greens, my design focus moves entirely indoors. November isn’t about big renovations; it’s about the sensory details that make a home feel like a sanctuary when the light fades at 4:00 PM.

This month's obsessions:

  • Tactile Contrast: Pairing "cold" materials like polished stone or glass with the "warmth" of heavy Irish wool and tumbled linens.

  • The Low Glow: Switching off the "big light" in favor of layered lamps and beeswax candles. It changes the architecture of a room instantly.

  • Nature’s Geometry: Foraging dried branches or seed pods to add structure to a mantelpiece without the fuss of fresh flowers.

Design is often less about what you add, and more about how you layer what you already have. Xx Liz
